Lacquerware is a traditional craft that has been passed down in Japan for centuries.
As a small workshop, we are not able to produce items in large quantities.
However, with the wish to bring smiles to many people through lacquerware,
we carefully handcraft each piece, one by one.
天然木から木地を自社加工
木材は湿気などの影響を受けて伸縮します。そのため仕入れてからすぐには加工せず、変化を落ち着かせてから加工に入ります。
それでも加工後の湿度等で伸縮するため、これらの変化を職人が計算して加工しています。
その後機械ではできない細やかな箇所まで磨き上げます。
美しい漆器に仕上げるためには、時間をかけて丁寧に行う、この研磨作業が欠かせません。
Each wooden base is processed in-house from natural wood.
Wood naturally expands and contracts in response to humidity and environmental changes.
For this reason, we do not begin processing the wood immediately after it is sourced.
Instead, we allow it time to settle before starting the crafting process.
Even after processing, the wood continues to respond to changes in humidity.
Our artisans carefully calculate these movements and adjust their work accordingly.
Once shaped, each piece is meticulously polished, reaching even the finest details that machines cannot achieve.
This time-intensive and careful polishing process is essential to achieving the beauty of true lacquerware.
漆器制作の要 漆塗り
漆塗りには様々な技法がありますが、弊社では「摺漆（拭き漆）」や「目はじき塗」を主に施しています。
漆の塗装は、一般的な塗装とは異なり、適切な温湿度管理下で「硬化」（固める）させます。
複数回塗装を重ねることで、漆特有の美しい艶が出ます。
木地制作・漆塗り・温湿度管理といった、様々な工程・管理を経て美しい漆器が仕上がります。

There are various techniques used in lacquer application.
Unlike conventional coatings, lacquer does not dry naturally.
It is cured under carefully controlled temperature and humidity conditions.
By applying multiple layers of lacquer, a deep and distinctive luster unique to lacquerware is achieved.
Through a series of meticulous processes—including wooden base production, lacquer application, and precise temperature and humidity control—each piece is completed as a beautiful work of lacquerware.
